We are honored to present Rabbi Yaakov Moskowitz’s new video commemorating the yahrzeit of Rav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg zt”l – 27 Adar 5772 / March 30, 2012. This presentation is the next installment of his “Growth Through Our Gedolim” series.

I was at a question and answer session several years ago with Rav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg zt”l and the first question asked was whether anyone in Klal Yisroel can become a Gadol? He responded,

“Yes. You just need to have one thing. You need to have a watch. You always need to check what time it is to make sure you are using your time properly, to serve Hakadosh Baruch Hu in your avodas H’. I grew up as a regular American kid on Delancy Street in the Lower East Side of New York City, delivering newspapers. But I bought a watch and started to use it, and ultimately it led me to become who I am today.”

Rav Scheinberg zt”l went on to become a world-renowned posek, a Rosh HaYeshiva, an incredible lamden, and ultimately someone who impacted the lives of thousands upon thousands of people in Klal Yisroel. When it came to learning, he had everything on his fingertips. After his marriage, he learned in the Mir Yeshiva in Europe, and the great Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Lazer Yudel Finkel, said that Rav Scheinberg was the biggest masmid, the most diligent student to ever walk through the walls of the yeshiva. He would learn seventeen hours a day!
