For many, the term “Business Halacha” conjures up images of complex laws and scenarios that only a learned rabbi can truly comprehend.
The Parnassah Network realizes that these laws apply to the most basic day-to-day business transactions and wants to be able to allow both the scholar and layperson to relate to the laws found in Choshen Mishpat. With this in mind, they are launching a new initiative, called The Business Kollel Network, that we think you should consider bringing to your community and letting your members know about. It creates an international network of Batei Midrash and kollelim across North American communities that will take part in a two-year night seder program to learn the laws of Choshen Mishpat and relate it to practical applications in real life scenarios, such as timely payments, commitments, pricing, competition, interest, etc.
A unique feature of this program is that the organizers of this initiative have already created a smartphone app. Aptly called, The Business Kollel Network app, it offers great resources, links to many prominent Business Halacha related sites, and even a hotline number for people to call in and ask questions to a competent rabbinic authority. You can downlaod it here.
This new project is set to commence on Rosh Chodesh Elul. If this sounds like a program that could enhance your shul or community kollel, click here to read all about the program. You can also speak with Rabbi Eliezer Cohen, the rabbinical coordinator of The Business Kollel Network, by calling 732-987-7704 extension 7237 or email him directly at bkollel at learnandnetwork dot com.
