Recently, a rabbi contacted us through our website asking for links to sites that address topics such as contemporary halacha as well as Choshen Mishpat. Below, we share with you two links to sites that address such matters.

  1. DinOnline.org has a database of questions and answers that cover Orach Chaim, Yoreh Deah, Even Haezer, Choshen Mishpat, and more (see here). Best of all, the answers are written in a practical yet scholarly format so that it can be enjoyed by rabbis and laypersons alike. DinOnline.org also provides articles, halachic guides, and a weekly newsletter and is certainly one that you’ll want to bookmark.
  2. The second site is an equally wonderful resource. TheHalachaCenter.org is managed by The Bais HaVaad Halacha Center for the Study and Practice of Monetary Halacha. It offers a Choshen Mishpat Consultation Line, an “ask the dayan” section, as well as a weekly emails that connect contemporary halacha to the weekly Torah portion. What’s more, this site also offers you the opportunity to scan their archives so that you can read about how Jewish law addresses such issues as an impounded iPod (see here).
While there are many wonderful sites out there, we believe that these two sites are places that you can turn to for sources as well as inspiration.
