It’s been quite a year for us ALL and with the many changes the world has gone through, I’m sure you’ve noticed marketing has changed a lot as well.

Luckily, we’ve been keeping track of those changes for you and I’m here to share them so you can keep up to date!

Now, some of these might be a bit obvious BUT I’m mentioning them because they are THAT critical.

Change #1: Everyone and everything around the world moved 700% more online.
From nonprofits to restaurants, events to fitness trainers, when the world shutdown, millions who had previously shied away from online interactions were forced to migrate and figure it out. Now, as the world has begun to reopen, many remain online both for their “marketing” and their offerings.

What this means for your marketing is that cultivating your web presence has become not just critical, but more delicate as even masseuses now compete in the global marketplace. However, it does not mean that you need to expand and be all over the internet—quite the opposite. The key to succeeding in any full marketplace is specialization – so now is the time to FOCUS your web presence.

Change #2: The craving for personal connection has hit dangerous levels
Humans have been getting more and more disconnected through the use of technology over the past 2 decades (smartphone dinners, anyone?) but the current situation with stay-at-home orders, masks and social distancing in many places has set a level of separation unprecedented in human history.

What this means for your marketing is that people are CRAVING connection to real humans. From personal brands, to personal messages and even the shift from audio to video calling, the days where chat-bots and automated responses were winning are long gone. Bigger brands are struggling to connect with their audiences online where “influencers” are taking over. You need to find a way, even if it’s remote, to connect PERSONALLY and GENUINELY with your audience.

Change #3: People around the world shared an experience
I’ve started traveling again and the most incredible part of my travels has been meeting strangers from all over the world, who I now share a common experience with. Yes, there have been many challenges this past year and with that have also come many benefits and much beauty. One of the very beautiful outcomes I am seeing is that people worldwide are able to connect to each other in a way they never could before through their now common shared experience.

What this means for your marketing is that you can connect and market to audiences who you previously would not have been able to. Not only because they’re now online, but also because you have shared experiences to stand on. Humans the world over are working together and doing business together more easily because of this. So go ahead, pick an audience who you can help and reach out to – the groundwork has already been laid.
