Whether I am a student at Oxford, a trader on Wall Street, or a violinist for the Vienna Philharmonic, what does a Book (albeit an all-time bestseller) that my distant relatives received at Sinai have to do with me? The distance in time from when the Jewish people received the Torah may leave us either unaware or confused about our connection to it. The goal of this class is to show how the Written and Oral Torahs now in our hands have been passed on intact, through a direct chain from God via Moshe Rabeinu (Moses our Teacher), for 133 generations (over 3300 years) until today. This information will give us a keen understanding of how Jewish philosophy and law is vitally relevant to every moment in our life.
